In December, I pointed to three bills being considered in the Massachusetts General Court: a bill to enact the Uniform Foreign-Country Money Judgments Recognition Act; a bill to enact the Uniform Enforcement of Foreign Judgments Act; and a bill to enact the 2000 version of the Uniform Arbitration Act. As far as I can tell from the news reports and the General Court’s website, none of the bills were passed by yesterday, when the legislature adjourned. That basically means the bills are dead for the year, though I understand that the bills could pass by unanimous consent later this year when the legislature meets in informal session. In any case, if you live in Massachusetts and you want to help keep Massachusetts a desirable forum for litigants, call you representative and your senator and let them know!
