Readers, if you’ve been reading for a long time, you will know that I have gone through a lot of variations on the theme of allowing you to look up relevant cases on Letters Blogatory more easily. When I started out, I would write about a case of the day and then add a brief description to a page that contained a running list of cases, organized by jurisdiction. Totally unworkable—it meant I had to do everything twice. For a long time, I had a box on the right-hand side of the screen that let you search for cases decided by particular courts or cases citing particular statutes, but the box was pretty difficult to use.
Now I’m trying something new. If you click on “Index” in the menu bar at the top of your screen, you’ll see options for searching US federal cases by jurisdiction, US state cases by jurisdiction, and foreign cases by jurisdiction. I hope you’ll find this useful. It’s not perfect. Ideally, I would show you only the options that have results in them. So, for example, if I’ve never written about a Wyoming state court case, you shouldn’t see Wyoming as an option to click. But I’m still working on that. I’m also still trying to figure out how to do something like this for cases citing particular rules or statutes. I know it’s doable, but right now it’s not doable by me.
Thanks as always for reading!
