In reply to Larry Mac. Larry, thanks for your comment. I don't necessarily disagree with you. I don't know anything about this zoo. If the zoo is mistreating its animals, that's what animal welfare laws are for. If the animal welfare laws are inadequate, that's what legislatures are for. My point was just that the approach to animal welfare that Wise and his group take is absurd, not that we shouldn't care about animal welfare. Of course we should.

Google “reviews for Commorford traveling zoo,” and you can read about the deplorable conditions these animals are kept in, made to walk a small circle for 12 hours a day hauling screaming children on their backs,the use of bullhooks, and at the end of each Performance, load up in a truck and haul to the next venue.

Just FYI, Ct. is NOT conducive to an elephants happiness. It gets COLD here! I’m not sure what the conditions of their winter “storage” are, but I’m pretty sure Commerford doesn’t heat a barn to an elephant’s liking. Both he and the elle’s would be better served if the animals went to sanctuary.
