In reply to Peter Lynn. I think that's right, Peter. Many people hold bad views, but when a political leader says what others think out loud, he or she gives them permission to say them out loud, too.

When political leaders preach racial hatred it seems to legitimise it for all those who secretly harbour such opinions, and they start to emerge from the woodwork. We have seen similar behaviour in post Brexit UK, for which the leave campaign unfortunately chose to focus on immigration.

Just to prove my point, here is the text of a response I received from a reader (I’ve removed his name for obvious reasons). It’s one of many I received.

“If any average person notices that many people in positions of power (bank, law, media, etc.) are Jewish, that their actions, such as the degradation of culture via Hollywood, line up with the prescriptions in the Protocols, that the Torah has been replaced by the Babylonian Talmud, is it wrong to speak up against it?

“There was once a time when the term ‘anti-Semitic’ could be used like a magic wand. Just say the word, and your opponents run scared. Those days are over. The mind-control of the media is over.”
